Actually, I learned about this back in 1961 when I first tried making money
with my new Pentax H3.

A guy wanted me to point him to a wedding photographer. No, I wouldn't do,
he wanted a pro, "Some one with a big black camera" (a direct quote). So, I
gave him the name of a friend that used a Crown Graphic. "Oh, I already
talked to him, he charges too much" (another direct quote). So obviously a
pro camera is BIG, and BLACK used by someone who charges too much <GRIN>.

And to further make the point; when I was using that monstrous Mamiya
Universal Press (Black Model), I always got a lot of respect because I was
obviously a Pro!

Once again PRO = BIG BLACK CAMERA. Sorry, Pentax never has and never will
make a big black 35mm. And now you know why the F5 and EOS-1v are so bulky,
they didn't have to be, but they wouldn't sell as pro cameras if they
weren't <very tiny grin, because it is more true than not>.

While I am at it another way to be taken for a pro is to wear a name tag and
a tie. I have gotten into places and events buy draping my self with my MXs
and a dirty Domke F2 camera bag, and wearing the aformentioned tag and tie.
I mean who wears a tie if they are not at work? People are programed to
respect a tie, especially some place where it is not the norm. I believe
that with a BBC, tag, and tie I could walk into just about anywhere, no
problem.
