same retail price. the 5400 is missing a couple of features and has a couple more compared to the 5000, so it is a wash. i am one of the ones that will, if at all possible, get a DSLR in the next year. i would like it to be a Pentax one, but if i have to, i will pick one of the others. primary criteria for me above and beyond enough megapixels is low sensor noise. many of my exposures are longer than 2 seconds.
