They merely open the film cans to make sure it's actually film inside. I always remove the cans from the boxes. Primarily so that I can fit more film in the bag. But the security people have never ran the film through the machine. And I've flown over a million miles with film. Aw you say, a lead bag in your carry-on is the way to do it. Paul
