I just wore out an ME Super in exactly this way...one of the plastic
gears in the advance mechanism has worn a tooth down, so it jams. 
Granted, I am a heavy user and I had the camera for about a decade (and
someone else had it before me).  The ME Super was from...when, the early
'80s?  That puts it at around 17 or 18 years, which I think is pretty respectable.
