A courier firm delivered an *ist SLR this morning. Initial observations are that it is compact !
The camera body has been assembled in the Philippines and the lens was assembled in Vietnam the overall finish of the camera is good. At the moment I have not put the batteries in it or read the handbook yet. As a spectacle wearer I was keen to see how easy it was to see through the viewfinder and it is excellent if I position my eye correctly all the viewfinder area is visible. Holding the camera in the right hand in the shooting position is quite comfortable and being a left handed person I also tend to use my left eye for focussing, which means my nose then comes into contact with my thumb when holding the camera to my eye. The nose/thumb contact would not occur with most people who I assume use their right eye for focussing. At the moment I am waiting for a BG-20 battery grip which is also on order which should further improve the handling of the camera. The camera/lens combination is relatively light and should be ideal when cycling and not wishing to carry a heavy camera and additional lenses. I would like to see a high-end camera based on this entry-level model. Harry Harold Owen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
