This is partly tongue-in-cheek. (Besides which I have nothing to contribute to lens 
threads, being a novice etc. -- so OT threads are *my thing.*)

1. Okay, it was strictly an accident then. Tell her you were angry and disappointed, 
but acknowledge it was an accident.
2. Replace the book if at all possible.
3. In the future, make it a "house rule" that no liquids be around your photography 
books.
4. Better yet, find a place to look at them that is semi-private, a favorite chair in 
a corner or something.
5. Even better never lay them down on furniture such as coffee tables that other 
people may be setting food/drink down on.
6. Also do not leave them open or spread out on furniture, unattended. Fold them up 
and shelf them when done and/or when you leave the area.
7. Buy her six more books and you a big expensive one. ;-)

Marnie  No help at all, I am sure. You know this sort of reminds me of Pal's (think it 
was him) tripod falling in the wind thing. Hindsight is great. <s>
