Electronic coupling can be cheaper than mechanical coupling, even with a micromotor driving the aperture mechanism. Why do you think Canon and Nikon made it in the first place? It makes it technically LESS complicated. About Pal's first comment - I found a strange image, the only image AFAIK so far of FAJ's and IST D's lens mounts... at dpreview. See it at http://www.volny.cz/fotof/temp/lens.jpg with the interesting part "buttoned" (sorry but I don't remember in which news item of dpreview.com it appeared). Notice the yellow/golden line near the aperture coupling... I never saw this on any other pentax lens. I don't draw any conclusions, just ask your opinion. Frantisek
