Okay, we all know the argument: a mechanical camera still works
when your batteries unexpectedly die, but who goes out without
spare batteries?

Fine. I was shooting snow scenes from my third-floor window and
started getting the low-battery warning from my Super Program.
No problem, thought I, I'll just swap batteries after a few more
frames.

Then I remembered. All my spare batteries in that size were in
the camera bag that got stolen.  BLEAH!  *pout*  {sulk}

The snow doesn't look bad, especially on my street (which has had
constant traffic since ... oh sometime _last_ winter), but a friend
emailed me to say that this snow is unusually slippery and he
advised staying off the roads. Might just make a run out to buy
batteries anyhow.

Fortunately there's the KX, the Spotmatic, the H3...

(Yeah, I know this counts as "lack of preparedness on the part of
the photographer." Don' wanna be reasonable today -- that's why
I labelled the post "whine". Pbbbbt! *pout*)
