Well, the bogen 3444 (Manfrotto 440) comes close, but will run you
~300 just for the legs (it's carbon fiber). I'm not sure I'd call it
"rock steady", but considering it's weight (3.6 lbs), it's not bad, and
the center post will extend to just under 65 inches (again w/o the head).
It also has the snap locks on the legs, and the center post can be
removed and mounted horizontally (or upside down). Nice for macro work.
Add the magnesium head (Bogen 3437) and you're up to 4.5 lbs, 4 inches
higher, and ~$75 more expensive (these prices are from memory, so double
check them).
