Oh, sorry, I forgot to add, this isn't true either. The stuff you buy is a
mildly acetic solution with an indicator in it. I'm not suggesting you drink
it, but if you did by accident, it's unlikely to hurt you. It's not much
more toxic than salad dressing.
If you mix your stop bath from glacial ecetic acid, it's not only not more
toxic than vinegar, it IS vinegar--vinegar is a mild solution of acetic acid
and so is stop bath.
And by the way, if you are looking for the least toxic chemicals, try Xtol
film developer. It's remarkably benign.
