Hi Dan,
I have the Zenitar-K 16mm and, believe me, it is a GREAT lens, and not only
for the price. It is very sharp even in the corners. I've made some
astonishing images with the sun in the frame which many other lenses wouldn't
have managed so good. You won't regret buying it.
Just two hints. First, check the coating. It's easy to find defective samples
of russian lenses made after the 1990 (after the vanishing of the USSR). Not
that bad: you'll probably see a light green shift in the coating... and in the
pictures :(
Second: be sure it has the rear UV filter on (and possibly the other ones in
the kit). The lens WON'T focus to infinity. I bought my first 16mm (stolen)
without the UV filter, and I had to make a custom filter myself... by cutting
a larger UV filter and putting it into the mount of the yellow one.
Hope this helps.
Gianfranco
