Hi Don, In the case of Audacity, the only two differences between using the installer and the portable version are: 1. If you use the installer, the installed version is automatically available to all users on the computer. 2. The portable version does not include a copy of the manual. However, you can download this separately if you wish.
David. original message: I have a related question. I note that there is a full install version and a portable version of Audacity. I have noted that many programs have both a full install and a portable version. So I conclude that there must be some advantage of the full install over the portable version of a program.
