Its been a long wait yes and my nerves have had to endure absolute hell
when it comes to annoyance, suspense and envy as my friend in Orange
Count US proudly boasts about his Eton Satellite radio.
Well now I will have one of these little beauties in my hands hopefully
this time next week.
Getting the radio into Australia is no mean feat as I couldn't find a
seller who would be prepared to export here from the US, couldn't even
find a place on eBay where I could go to buy it so I had to use a
workaround, get someone to order one of these radios in the US and
forward it on.
Unfortunately the first set we had sent out was faulty so that had to be
returned.
The second arrived last week and it was put through its paces to be sure
that this set wasn't faulty, thankfully everything performed well so the
set was packed away in its box - minus the 110 Volt AC Power adapter
which I can't use - and shipped off at the Post Office.
I have to say that its wonderful hearing a demo of something over the
phone and knowing full well that you're going to have that little
something you just heard - the very same little something - in your
hands in a very short time.
So what's so good about the Eton Satellite Word Band Radio? Just about
everything including from a blindness perspective, the operation is
simple and straight forward.
The Radio performs well across the spectrum whether you're listneing to
FM, AM or Short Wave.
The Air Band seem particularly good.
I'll write more about this radio when I've had a chance to have a hands
on look and may even knock up some notes on the subject.
For those in the US the Eton Satellite costs around $200 and is unlike
any of the radios released under the Satellite name in the past.
Firstly the Eton Satellite is a fraction of the size of the last two
Satellite radios released they being the Satellite 750 and the earlier
Satellite 800, the 800 is a monster portable/Table top and the 750 a
large portable.
