I use the mm1 on a Mac, not Windows, so I can't answer anything about how they interact with Windows or Windows applications. I also rarely use the actual controls on the speaker, because I find the included remote a whole lot more convenient. It works perfectly with the Mac for raising and lowering volume, moving among tracks, pausing and turning the speakers on and off.
