The apartment size isn’t so much an issue these days rather the other people
who are using Wi-Fi networks and there are around a dozen of those near me
according to my scan.

My Wi-Fi travels right up the road to the Doctors surgery 2 doors away though I
don’t think I’d be too reliant on enjoying uninterrupted Audio Streaming from
there, haven’t tried it yet.

How do I know about Bottle necks in Routers and so on? By reading technical
forums and the like and white papers regarding various devices. Its
unfortunate that the Airport Extreme suffers from this and its unfortunate
because of the price tag for one of these units so in the end, if you’re
thinking of an Extreme then you may as well bite the bullet and get something
far better like the Asus RTAC3200 Tri-Band Router.

Apple really should be ashamed of themselves offering the Extreme at this price
tag with a very poor performance. The design of the Extreme hasn’t really
changed since its inception and the only thing that has changed is the addition
of the new AAC protocol but even then the Extreme doesn’t perform well.

As Mary mentioned, the Extreme is very easy to set up thanks to the utility but
functionality of the Extreme is incredibly limited compared to other Routers
and for the price I’d expect far more.

No, I’e not used an Airport Extreme as such but I have used a Time Capsule and
the only difference between the Extreme and Time Capsule as far as I’m aware is
that the Time Capsule has a built-in Hard Drive whereas the Extrem does not.

The Extreme doesn’t even have a DLNA Media Server even though it has a USB port
and in a modern day Router? Well that’s just a joke.
