get the fasttrack pro, it does much more.
When I used it the latency was not more than 1/10 second if that.

hi dunno if anyboyd has tried them but you can get the usb/quarter inch
converors that allow you to record an electric guitar directly. however they
can have big latency problems. has anybody tried the 1384 soundcards for
similar type of thing? do they remove the latency problem. i have read that
they have about 11ms latency whichis just not going to be noticible.
