Yes, I do recall an issue similar to that which you described but that
was quite some time ago, turn on the auto update feature so that you're
notified of updates when VLC is launched.
I guess you could describe me as a Power VLC user, I use it for all
sorts of tasks, playing from my Media Server, ripping to CD'S if I'm in
a hurry, converting from one audio format to another, accessing stations
on Shoutcast and so on.
