I have recently purchased the Creative Roar bluetooth speaker from
Amazon for $150. Although I have only heard the small JamBox this
Creative speaker is far better, as it should be for being much
larger. Don't know how it compares with a Bose SoundLink 3 or large JamBox.
The Roar is about 10 inches wide, 7 inches deep and 2 inches high. It
has an extremely solid feel and lots of weight, likely due to the 6
amp battery in it. It has 2 different amplifiers: one to drive the
base speaker, and one to drive the 2 other speakers for mids and
highs. The sound is extremely balanced throughout the range. There's
a "roar" button that boosts the sound to more fully fill a room.
Volume goes quite loud with no distortion.
There are lots of reviews on Amazon. Admittedly, a significant number
of the reviews seem over the top in their praise. But, in my personal
listening I find the speaker extremely good for the price.
HTH,
Jeff

If you don't need a lot of boom people are liking the bose blue
tooth speaker color for $129. I have heard one and I think it is
better than the sound link Mini for about $200.
