Dear broadcasters, First, happy holidays from the author of SPL add-on for NVDA. Hope you are enjoying your holidays (and good luck to those producing holiday shows).
I'd like to present new versions of StationPlaylist Studio add-on for NVDA as a holiday gift - not just one, but two. First, version 3.4 brings updated translations of the add-on along with a fix where control carts were not announced in cart explorer when in fact carts are assigned to them. The second marks a milestone: the public beta version of upcoming add-on 4.0 is officially live (see below for details). Both versions can be downloaded from the following site: http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/StationPlaylist.en.html Also, when you click the add-on guide link, you'll be taken to the add-on guide page where you can read about 4.0 features. Speaking of 4.0: from now, no new features will be added to 4.0, only bug reports will be accepted. But if you do have feature suggestions, please keep them coming and they will be included in the next major version of the add-on in summer 2015. As 4.0 is now in beta, please try using this in a production environment, as the aim for betas is to hunt unexpected and hidden bugs and fixing them before official release (the official release is not far off). For our friends using the last November snapshot: * Song intro alarm dialog's interface has changed - just like end of track alarm dialog, it is now a number entry dialog. If you set wrong value for this dialog, NVDA will set song ramp value to 9 seconds. To use this dialog, you can either type the value directly or use up and down arrow keys to adjust the value. * Braille timer: unless you turn this off, NVDA will braille remaining time for the track (including intros) continuously. * Encoder label: If you set a label for an encoder stream, NVDA will now braille the stream label alongside the encoder name (more noticeable in SPL encoder window). * SPL Controller layer help: After entering SPL Controller layer, press F1 so NVDA can pop up a box listing available layer commands. This will be added for SPL Assistant layer in a future maintenance release. Sneak peak at what's coming in the next major version: * Add-on settings dialog: Press a command to launch a dialog where you can configure almost all settings for the add-on. This will be similar to how JAWS scripts work for adjusting script settings. * Feedback for SPL Controller commands: As long as you didn't minimize the Studio window to system tray, NVDA will give you feedback on some controller layer commands. In addition, I'm researching a way to toggle various things such as microphone with just one command in SPL Controller layer so that a broadcaster can use a single keystroke to toggle microphone on and off from anywhere without having to assign a command just to turn something off. Lastly, if you would like to talk with me to discuss how 4.0 beta is doing and to brainstorm ideas for future versions of the add-on, I'd like to have a Skype conference call on a Saturday (in United States time). In this conference call, I'd like to hear your feedback about the add-on, show you what I'm working on for the next version and to brainstorm possible feature ideas for future versions (I can tell you that most of the features in 4.0 were suggested during the Skype conference call in August). Please let me know the date and time you are available (I'm available on December 13, 27, January 10 and 17 in the afternoons). Enjoy the new versions. Thanks. Cheers, Joseph
