I always understood iTunes doesn't play Flac. That's one of the reasons I
stopped using it. That and the fact that it doesn't maintain it's library
effectively in Windows.

ITunes could play files since whenever, not sure how you didn't no that but
its easy to find out, if you don't have it, download and explore and you
will see that sooner than later.
