Well wudda ya know, it was born the same year I was. Might even have
been born on the same day I was conceived, as I am a December child.

That damn thing was so strong, our radio instructor told a story of a
guy who built flashlights which could be WABC-powered. How's that
possible, you may ask? A simple diode circuit to turn radio frequency
energy into low-level current to power a flashlight bulb if you're
close enough to the transmitter. The problem with doing that is that
when you turn on the device that uses the enrgy from the transmitter
to run it, it actually affects the radiation pattern and signal
strength. So this guy's idea of inventing radio-powered flashlights
never got off the ground.
