Hello! Well, you have to adjust the skype volume in from another source. Then you can use skype with it. I am not sure though what references you have when you say music listening is ok in this headset. Its far better than many headsets or headphones i've tried. Ofcourse you can buy a much more expensive headset or headphones like Beyerdynamics t770 which in my opinion is the best backclosed headphones i've heard so far.
