Hi Petro, yes, there's a portable version available at: http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/audacity_portable
concerning recording a microphone and the audio going to a playback device, for example a screen reader. Audacity only helps you with recording the audio going to a playback device, in the absence of stereo mix. To record the microphone and a screen reader, you need to send to audio from the microphone to the playback device. There are a couple of ways of doing this. 1. Your sound card may be able to do this. If it can, all you need to do is unmute the microphone input for that playback device. In vista and later, on the playback devices page of the sound dialog, open the properties dialog of the playback device, go to the levels page, and you should find an appropriate, set of controls for the microphone input: a slider, a mute button, and a balance button. 2. If you have windows 7 or later, then the audio from the microphone can be sent to the playback device using software. The disadvantage of this method is that there's an annoying lag. To do this, on the recording devices page of the Sound dialog, open the properties dialog of the microphone, go to the listen page, and check the Listen to this device check box. And, are you saying it will record one's microphone (speech( and screen reader speech at the same time when recording? Thank you.
