While Sound Forge has multiple channels, I don't think it has multi track recording facilities which is what you need. Audacity apparently will do what you want, but I haven't used it myself.
You could sort of do what you want with Sound Forge. For example, say you wanted to record your voice over a backing track, you could play the backing track in something like Winamp whilst recording your voice with Sound Forge. Then you could load both files into Sound Forge, adjust the start so that they were both in sync and do a mix. Is that possible, and if so, how is it done? I'd prefer not to have to go to Sonar to do this, but if I have to, I can, and will.
