I forget which distro it is, but you could ssh into it when it whispers the
IP address through the audio out of the pi, maybe raspian does it?

The Raspberry Pi package arrived today, its been assembled and that's as
far as I think I can go for now without sighted assistance.
The package contained a number of items including the Raspberry Pi itself,
a nice plastic case, a 16GB HC SD card with all the software for the Pi, a
HDMI cable for connection to a TV or surround-sound receiver, a power
supply, a USB remote controller and mouse and a USB Wi-Fi dongle.
Assembling the Raspberry Pie into its case was easy enough, the board
pretty much clips into the case and all the ports are visible though it
did take me a little while to work out how the SD Card was inserted, it
goes into the Pi upside down.
The Raspberry Pi board has several connections, 2 USB ports, a HDMI port,
audio out/headphones port and a composet video out port as well as the SD
card connector and a micro USB input for the power supply.
You can use a conventional USB keyboard instead of the supplied remote
control/mouse if you would rather but I haven't gone down that road yet as
I'm hoping to be able to control the whole thing from the XBMC Remote
Controller App for IOS.
If a USB keyboard isn't your thing and freedom means a lot to you then you
can use a wireless keyboard instead.
So I'm at a dead end right now <smile> and will write more on this project
when I'm able to get someone to read my monitor to see what the Pi
requires, I reckon it will probably want details of various servers it can
use for TV shows, Movies and so on.
