I would recommend Total Recorder. You'll have to set things up to record from the line in, and run tests to make sure the recording levels are loud enough.
You'll need some way to monitor the recording so you're not recording dead air after the tape is done. Total recorder does have a mode where it only records when there is sound streaming. This feature works well for recording online videos. It removes any cut outs in the sstream. Total recorder is a little hard to set up, but runs very well once you get it going. Good luck.
