itunes as a media player

Hi folks!

 

I have to use itunes now  since I received my iphone 4s.  So I’m wondering
how good a media player it really is?

I’m not too concerned about the formats which it will not play except for my
wma lossless files.  And it wants to convert to them to 256 kbps m4a which
is not good enough!  Wonder if there is somewhere that you can tell itunes
to convert these files to a lossless format?
