It all depends on which conversion encoder you choose. If you want things to come out in mono, you have to define an encoder to do that. It's easy enough to do. Press the Configure button, then use the dialog to add a new encoder configuration set up just the way you want it--mono, choose your bit and sample rate, etc. Works great.
