I later found out that you can actually do this by installing windows live
essentials and using the windows movie maker programme.

prism Video Converter will do an excellent job for you.
It is from NCH software here in Australia and is extremely inexpensive and
screen reader friendly. It will convert do and from approx 18 formats.
Just Google for software.
