Hello, Angel and List,

I use a Zoom H4N recorder for many reasons.

First, it provides 48 volts for certain condenser mikes.

Next, it is very easy to move between internal and external mikes.

Next, there's a buffer which holds 2 seconds of audio. What this means is that if you're in a situation "in which you don't know when a permance will start, the buffer avoides your missing the first 2 seconds. In other words, as soon as you hear the beginning of what you're going to record, you press the record button and those first seconds will be there just az though you knew when to start recording in the b/ place.

Next, because recordings are made on sd cards, it is possible to dump the contents of those cards right to your computer.

I have a textfile written by Neal Ewers and Tom Kingston which does a great job of describing the recorder and how to make it as accessible as possible. Even if you found a recorder which might be better than this one, chances are that it won't have instructions made to help blind users.

I doubt that I should put all that on this list, but if you decide to get the machine, I will send you the material off list.

Let me know if I can be of more help.

Joe G.
