oh? I was under the impression that if the external mic was hooked into
it the quality could be better, no? if so, why or why not? what is the
theory behind it?

your problem is that with the victor stream any mic will clip. On Sat, 28 Jan

Hi gang,
Anyone have a good suggestion for a small desktop mic for recording
lectures that have some piano and music in them? I use my victor stream
which, actually for speech the mic is pretty good, but for music it
clips like hell. So I was just going to see if there was a good external
mic. It's in a classroom, not an auditorium, I had heard that iriver
made some good omnidirectional mics but wasn't sure. So it's some piano
and some orchestral stuff, the music is. any suggestions? plug is just a
standard 8th inch jack.
