Many folks are getting external USB sound devices. I have no idea how they work with splitting the sounds.

These days laptops work amazingly well. Saying this, there are, as far as I know, no expansion slots in which to put a second sound card.

Whatever laptop you ultimately get, you must live with the soundcard which comes with it. Even so, the soundcards I heard work well enough for most applications.

I'll look forward to other thoughts.
