Thanks, guys, for all your help. I did download the trial copy of Extractor
before I wrote to the list. Strangely, it doesn't seem to even see my dvd,
but that's something weird I must be doing. I shall keep working with your
instructions about how to access the audio description because I do want to
know how to do this for futre dvd's I might rent or purchase.

Y'all have a great week!

Peace,
Kathy

How you find and select the audio description track fully depends on the
software you're using and how you want to watch it. For instance, if you
wish to rip the AD track into a standard audio format and store it on your
computer, you might use DVD Audio Extractor, in which case you would choose
"English for Visually Impaired" as the language before ripping. If you just
want to watch the film straight from the DVD itself on a computer, you'll
need software to play it. Windows Media Player and PowerDVD spring to mind,
however the number of software applications available to play DVD's is so
vast that you would need to choose one that you liked, and then someone
could help with language selection to enable audio description. Chances are
that this process would be accessible, but as I say there are too many
different applications to give clear instructions on just one.

If you want to watch the film with AD on your DVD player, some people will
tell you to select the appropriate option in the DVD's inaccessible menu
system. However, all you have to do is simply start playing the film
(usually the very top option on a dVD's menu) and press the "audio"
or "audio language" button on your DVD player's remote control until you
hear audio description.
