The Olympus dm520 has timer recording but the function does not talk so
probably is hard to use. I haven't even tried it because I don't want to
put mine into a unusable state.

This question deals with recorders such as, but not limited to, the
Plextalk Pocket, the Zoom H1, the Booksense XT, and the new Bookport
Plus. Do any of the above recorders have a timer which can be set to
start and stop the recorder at user designated times? If none of the
above have such a timer, can anyone suggest an accessible recorder which
does? I am of course referring to hand held units as opposed to
computer based units.
