Briefly, Soundforge is multi-channel, rather than "multi-track" recording software.
Most people seem these days to use Sonar along with the JFW scripts for multi-track. there is something called N-Track, which some reportedly have used. Audacity is multi-track and free and there are likely scripts for it. If you consider the Mac, then Amadeous is said to be accessible. Ray.
