The manual of my recorder actually mentions that batteries would be drained if left in the recorder, the cause of this is the date time stamping function which I never use anyway so how to solve the problem? Well my way around it is to use rechargeable batteries and I use those which hold their charge for over 12 months so I always have one ready and as I don't rely on the time and date stamp function I very rarely ever have a battery in the Zoom H1 unless I'm recording.
