Dane, where di did you hear that you're supposed to be able to use the h-1
as a sound device when connected to the computer. I didn't hear that in
neal's review.

Subject: The Zoom H1 portable audio recorder and the Mac
Hi!
Just thought I'd write down a few notes on this recorder and how it
integrates with the Mac computer, for a full review on this excellent
piece of equipment please visit http://www.blindcooltech.com to hear Neil
Hughes putting the H1 through its paces or take a look at my blog for
further information.
The H! is a high quality audio recorder which records in either of 2
formats, MP3 or Wave. When recording in Wave format you can mark
positions in your recording by pressing the play button.
In Neil's review he talks about how these marks are compatible with Sound
Forge - if you copy the file across to your computer you can open the file
with Sound Forge and locate the portions of the file you marked whilst
recording on the Zoom H1 whilst pressing the play button.
That's all very nice but what if you're using the Mac? I've just ben
recording with the Zoom H1 and inserted a fair few markers, all of which
Amadeus Pro found in the wave file created without a problem, you use
option left and right arrows to move between markers, use command-left and
command-right arrows to select from one marker to another etc.
When the Zoom H1 is connected to a USB port of your Mac it is detected
without a problem and you'll see it as a drive in the main finder Desktop
window. Copying from the H1 is perhaps a little slow but not too bad, the
Victor Reader Stream for example is at a snails pace compared to this.
You're supposed to be able to use the Zoom H1 as a sound device when
connected to a computer via the USB cable, so far I've not managed to get
this to work.
