You know John, i would agree with you.
the best sounding speakers i have heard in a long time are the ones i am
currently using now.
the company is benwin, and the speakers cost 150 dollars, for a 5.1 system.
but you can use these speakers with any device including tv's vcr's dvd
players stereo recivers ect. along with the computer. front speakers
including the center speaker have 15 feet of whire the rear speakers have 25
feet of whire. also the speakers have a remote.
haven't heard much about the boes line of speakers but these pack quite a
wallop of sound you do not even need to have them turned up at all to have
room filling sound the speakers for the ones that are front center and rear
speakers are flat pannel. the subwhoofer is a down firing sub whoofer made
in a wood cabbinet the company said that the only thing that you as a
customorer might need to replace when the speakers need it is the fuse that
powers the subwhoofer./speakers but let me tell you best darn money i have
spent in a very long time.
the web site for benwin is.
http://www.benwin.com

they also have a phone number which you can call to talk to someone about
the speakers.

Hello All List Members,
If you really want to get allot of bang for your buck, go with desk top
speakers.
Unlike lab top speakers, you get a subwoofer with them so you can hear the
bass.
They will plug in to the headphone jack on your lab top and or notebook.
My best regards.
  John.
