To the best of my knowledge, Goldwave supports MP3 but I'm not aware of its
supporting Mp4 format unless there is a downloadable codec or plugin that
makes this possible. Perhaps someone on list can enlighten me and other
enquiring minds on the question.

Ditto for Switch. Googling on Switch Audio Converter should get you
there. I could pull up a URL later if needed. BTW, the free version of
Switch will handle MP4 files.

It can and does play mp4 files.
I don't know anything about converting those yet, but I'm working on
