Everything you need to know about Applian Technologies software products can be found at the address above. This simple website was created by me for blind PC users who have an interests in not only recording internet radio stations but also other media like youtube.com. Applian makes Replay AV which is well known by the blind community. I have audio tutorials on how to use some of their software products. Right now I am assisting Applian Technologies to improve accessibility with JAWS 11 screen reader their new software product called Replay Telecorder for Skype. This software allows you to record Skype calls in 5 different ways including audio only recordings which most of us want while sighted users will use it to record the video signal from the webcam while making a Skype call. It's a Skype call recording software program. Right now entering the product key is not possible with JAWS 11 but the developer sent me an updated version of Replay Telecorder 'release candidate' and the product key entry is accessible. So if you want to try the demo you are warned in advance here about this issue. The GUI interface needs some tweaking. Right now you can use the route JAWS to PC cursor and locate the text 'picture-in-picture' which you can click with left or right mouse click as I have forgotten which one you need to do in order to bring up the context menu for the recording setting type you want. I choose 'none' which means only record for me as audio. That is no video will be recorded during the Skype call. It has only 2 menus. You access them with alt+f and alt+h. They are hidden but keyboard shortcuts work. The default folder where recordings go is in
Vista
C:\Users\Your Name\Documents\Replay Telecorder\
That is the Documents folder.
Recordings are saved as .AVI format. These play very well in Windows Media Player 11 which is my default media player. A user told me there was an issue when playing back the .AVI file within Winamp. Might need to update the codecs I told her.

These .AVI files can easily be converted to .mp3 format with a converter like Replay converter. But I have not attempted this here.

You run Skype first. Minimize the program, open Replay Telecorder program, minimize or alt+tab back to Skype, start a call, alt+tab back to Replay Telecorder and press alt+f and choose 'record'. Recording starts. When done choose alt+f within Replay Telecorder and 'stop record'. Recording is saved as .AVI file. The default recording setting is 'picture-in-picture' so you will have to change it to 'none' which is audio only format using your route JAWS to PC cursor and then navigation keys. You change the recording settings by locating the text within the GUI interface that reads as 'picture-in-picture' as explained earlier here.

Pressing insert+NUMPad 3 reads the status bar.

If the developer improves it a little it will be fully accessible with JAWS 11. Only time will tell what improvements will be done but I am successfully using Replay telecorder 1.1 RC 7 which is not available as a download right now on the Applian website.

Do you want me to notify you when a new accessible version is released? If yes, emal me at

Put in subject line Replay Telecorder.

I do not work for Applian. Just a volunteer. I make no commissions.
The above is only my experience.
