But, if he is using a digital player from NLS then he doesn't have alt F4.
He isn't talking about using a thumb drive on a computer!!!

the san disc drives do work nicely
you do not need to worry about the u3 support in the drive just alt f 4
out
of the screen and copy the contents to the drive.
remember to go into the safely remove hardware wizzard though to remove
the
drive.

I have a friend who has one of those sand disc drives and he removed the
u3
stuff and the drive still won't work so stay away from those. I hear
Kingston is good. The Data Traveler is the one you want.

It probably has something to do with the U3 software on the Sandisc

Hello Kevin,
I have a San Disc 4 GB USB flash drive.
I created a folder that's called, audio+podcast.
I put mostly MP3 files in that folder.
But when I plug that flash drive in to the player, it plays one of the
audio files for a wile.
But then, it stops and gives me a cartridge error message.
But when I plug my wife's MP3 player in to it, the machine plays the
files off of it without any problems.
My question is, why does it act like that with my Sand Disc USB flash
drive and not my wife's MP3 player?
John.

Hi John.
The player will play 3gp, wav and mp3 files. I'm thinking of those
three
right off, I may be forgetting one, though. These files need to be in
a
folder called audio+podcasts which is on the root of the drive. You
can
put
subfolders under this to organize them. The player won't announce the
folders, but when you're in bookshelf mode you'll be able to navigate
to
them.
As for playing files in stereo, this may or may not be true. I say
this,
because earlier firmware updates to the player didn't play files in
stereo.
You need to have version 2.1 or later of the firmware, and it will play
files in stereo. To find out your player's version, with no media in
it,
press the sleep button ten times quickly until you hear the serial
number
being announced. Once this announcement starts, just wait, and you'll
hear
the version of your player's firmware announced. My player has version
2.1.3 of the firmware on it.
To download NLS books for your player, you need to be signed up with
the
NLS
site. To do this, go to
https://nlsbard.loc.gov
and click on the link on that page. Since you have an NLS player,
you'll
be
able to get this service. It's nice to download books from the site,
and
anything you get on a cartridge from your library will be on the NLS
site.
By the way, you may want to call your local library and tell them you
want
digital books on cartridge sent to you. I had to do this for myself,
and
in
fact I had to call them again to jolt things into action. I should be
getting my first NLS book from my library any day now.
There is an email list that is specificly set up for the NLS player.
You
can find out how to subscribe to it, as well as have some of your
questions
answered. Go to
http://bardtalk.com
If you have any other questions, let me know.
