Hi Jamie. I also just got a dm-520. I'm wondering about external microphones too. I'm a bit disappointed in the handling noise with the internal microphones. So, you really need to put the unit down to make good recordings. I don't think it will work well as a hand held recorder. I tried using it as a voice recorder in my shirt pocket but got a lot of noise when I moved, even slightly.

I'm going to try the Sony microphone that came with a cassette recorder when I can find it. Unfortunately, the zoom settings won't work properly with an external microphone.

Subject: What is a good stereo mic for the DM-520

I got my new DM-520 today and am having fun with it. The built-in mic makes some great recordings but environmental recordings are going to be tricky although the writst strap will help. What I need is a decent stereo mic that won't break the bank. Something that clipts to a shirt, fits on glasses or in the ears. Any recommendations?
