I also still have a DS50 but I would not assume that the DM520 does not have a way of turning off AGC. The only thing the 2 models seem to have in common are the Voice Guidance. If I am not mistaken, I do believe that some of the recorders in the DM series allow you to set recording levels manually, but not totally sure of that. I guess the only way to find out about the DM520 would be to either read the manual or call Olympus, or of course wait for someone to buy one and do a podcast on it. (smile)
