I wonder if it's the same as the DS50 that I have?  If so, it takes two AAA
batteries.  On the DS50, there's a plastic panel on the very end of the
machine on the record volume side IE away from the main control side.
Press this panel and pull back.   The panel should give way and sort of
swing out of the way so you can insert the batteries.  HTH.

Hello fellow audioists.

I just got the above voice recorder which appears will be able to interface 
with Drag and natrually speaking for a minor software upgrade.

Now I am very techy but, I cannot find the feaking battery compartment on 
this little beauty!

I have learned the hard way not to press, push or pull things if I don't 
know what they do or what I could break!

If yall know where the battery compartment on the DS71 is, and how to open 
it I would be most grateful.
