You could use headphones.

Subject: Skype Audio Question

I am using Skype with an Audigy sound card and want to know, is there a
configuration I can use or et up such that when I'm using Skype, the audio
from my microphone does not come through the PC speakers? The big problem I
have is space. The speakers are very close to the microphone, so using
Skype with any kind of volume at all is almost impossible because of
feedback problems that ensue as soon as I raise the volume just the leastest
little bit. But every mute button in the Volume Control application mutes
the audio to Skype as well as the audio of the microphone back through to
the speakers. Is there a way around this, or do I have to seriously
consider a second sound card and just don't connect any speakers to the
output?
