Before determining exactly what you'll need, a few questions need to be answered.
1. Is this a commercial DVD or a homegrown DVD? 2. If it's homegrown, is it a single-layer or dual-layer disk? 3. If it's dual-layer, are you wanting to copy onto a single-layer disk or onto another dual-layer disk?
