This may be a weird and impossible idea, but I would like to ask about it
and its possibility of working:
First of all, instead of installing a dj program on your home system,
could one install it directly on their web site and access it by actually
logging onto it with an FTP client; uploading his music folders onto the
same web site or another music dedicated site; install (imbed) winamp,
real player, or windows music player on the site as well; and stream
directly from the site.
Now, would this eliminate the worry about band width on the home system
and listener site or system? Wouldn't the stream be faster, since the
player would be on the web site and, when one clicks on it to listen, the
stream would be right there and constant?
Also, couldn't the person leave the station on all the time, as the power
would be from the web site. I remember in the earlier days of my web
site, I uploaded hundreds of m3u files and anyone could play them by just
going to the web site (url) and clicking on their choice and it played in
stereo. I think it used the listener's default player though. In my
case, I would have all of the players on the web site too and the listener
wouldn't have to worry about which one to use. I would still use a
streaming server. I just wondered if this would be possible or makes
sense or would be an advantage over my current setup.
I just remembered, my FTP is pretty fast and I could probably have a local
control panel that could control what's on the web site.

rediculous. I am just thinking and exerimenting.
