Thanks for this advice.  I use the DirectSound output plug-in so I'll 
try experimenting with various settings using this plug-in.

Changing various configuration settings in the Winamp output plugin can 
cause this.  I mostly use the SQRSoft Advanced Crossfading
plugin which cross fades songs.  Different parameters will apply 
depending on what output plugin you are using.

1. When in Winamp, open the Winammp preferences by pressing ctrl+p.

2. Arrow to output.

3. Tab to configure and press space.

4. Tab until you reach close then press up arrow.

5. Left and right arrow between the various tabs and then tab to the 
details within each.

6. Change various settings, one at a time, to see if they fix the 
problem.  Remember what you change so you can change them back
again if the result isn't what you want.
