Good on ya if SAM works for you o.o.t.b. For most blind folks, it doesn't.
Station Playlist Studio is playlist-oriented, but that doesn't mean you're stuck with it. What you have to do is build a searchable database (you can do it from the insert tracks dialog), then you can use that insert tracks dialog to find things you actually want to play. You can also set Studio to rebuild this database every time it is opened, but the larger your collection, the longer it's going to take, of course. Hope this helps get you on your way.
