Only once, that's all, remember, and this will soothe your mind, whenever you plug in magic jack, it installs what it uses but when you unplug it, it's gone. It does this since you might wish to take it with you anywhere you wish to make a call, and if you do, no more configuring is needed, e.g. phone number, address, etc. It writes this information to itself so it can go onto the network and use the facilities it needs via your broad band connection, where ever that connection is. When you re-connect magic jack, you do not have to go into control panel and re-do the settings, since you told your computer, "use only preferred devices."
